Man on the roof
A story was going around of a person in a flood, who climbed up on the roof of his house. A rowboat came by and asked if he needed assistance, and he said, "No, my God will save me!"
As the water rose, another boat came by and asked the same question and again, he said "No, my God will save me!" As the water neared the top of the roof a third boat came by and asked again, and he gave the same answer. Finally, the water swept him away and he perished.
Arriving in Heaven, he confronted God at the gate and said "I thought you were going to help me! Why didn't you save me?"
And God replied "I sent three boats."
